It is not possible for media to present the world as it really is because the media constructs meaning about the world
Media makes (in this case journalists) manage or mediate what is really there
The observer house style
The newspaper changed its format on the 15th January 2018. It was previously known as the Berliner size (smaller than a broadsheet, bigger than tabloid) and then re-launched into a tabloid.
Berliner format = old look of the paper not new one
BERLIN STYLE:
• Typography: Sans Serif font with rounded ends and in black. This is a simple font and bold. This fit in with the newspaper being liberal and for ‘progressives’.
Formal and serious, which was associated with ‘quality’ newspapers.
Mixture of bold and non bold fonts throughout to connote a combination of tradition
and modernity.
