Readership - The total number of people who read a publication 

Circulation - The number of Newspaper copies that are distributed to newsagents and news stands on an average day 

Hard News - political news government related

Soft News - Drama, social gossip etc

Within newspapers there is a sport section that is very masculine and appeals to male sports fans and is male dominated where as the online version only has a 2/3rds section that is sport based  

The cultural section is a whole section appealing to younger audiences and culture driven readers.

 There is the news review section that is hard news mixed in with opinion pieces which appeals to the news hungry reader who want to find out info and know what is going on in the world. 

The final target audience is the magazine within the observer the observer weekly containing its of lifetime style such as fashion and advice on sex and relationships targeting women as well as gardening and cooking which all appeals to women. 

3. The Guardian/Observer reader can be best described by the first statement of "We inspire our readers to take action" This is showing their readers to be an active audience as they give their personal views on what they see and have conflicted conversations on their personal view on things such as politics and real life events as they follow a liberal view and have likely had a stable upbringing ↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓

The Observer home page uses colour to represent the paper to be a formal middle class paper, within the home page  we see that on the top headline of the page that there are various sub-sections to apply to certain audiences e.g. News, the use of this mise-en-scene appeals to the audience as it give people a wide variety of personal preferences to have in a clean and formal manner. In the home page we can see the lifestyle text is coloured pink to potentially represent the Scott trust views of female inclusion and equality with men this shows the Observers liberal views of equality between race gender and ethnicity being strongly represented through the home page of the observer.
